Professor Joseph Okezi is a specialist in French language teaching, literature, and Francophone studies. He has taught for over ten years at different levels of academic endeavors, including preparing students for the international French examinations; DELF/DALF, and working with high school students to promote French-English bilingualism. He is a scholar and researcher whose interests lie in French literature from the 17th to 20th centuries, and topics relating to political discourse, media and digital humanities, gender matters, and social justice in literature. He is known for his passion for literary analysis and criticism, a branch of French literature in which he has been recognized for his excellence.
Professor Joseph taught intermediate French at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, the same school where he had his graduate degree with excellence He is known for his communicative teaching approach. He combines the use of digital humanities and modern classroom technology trends to get his students to develop interest in using the second language in real-life situations.
In addition to his teaching excellence, Professor Joseph is a bilingual communications specialist and a translator. He has previously worked with Campus France Nigeria, a French public institution in charge of promoting French higher education abroad and welcoming foreign students and researchers to France. Professor Joseph often sees himself as not just a language teacher but also a mentor who believes so much in student success and works hard to support their academic excellence.
