“The College, Civil Rights Activism, and the Sanitation Workers Strike”
This class will trace the gradual awakening of the campus to Civil Rights in the early 60s, the leading role taken by students in the nationally publicized church kneel-in campaign of 1964, the various ways College faculty, staff, students, and alumni/ae were involved in the Sanitation Workers Strike of 1968, and ��������ר��’ role in MLK 50, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination in Memphis.
